Biography

Dr. McCleery received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University, and completed a predoctoral clinical internship and a postdoctoral research fellowship at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with adolescents and young adults in the early phases of psychosis in a variety of clinical and research settings.

Broadly, Dr. McCleery’s research interests include identification of factors that contribute to well-being and daily functioning in people with psychosis and other types of mental illness across the lifespan. These factors include social and non-social information processing, cognitive performance, beliefs, and motivation. She uses a variety of methods in her work, including interviews, cognitive and behavioral tests, biological signal recording methods (e.g., electroencephalography), and mobile technologies to assess thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and experiences in daily life.

Her work has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, and the American Psychological Foundation.
